Electrifying a fleet is not a one-month project. If you underestimate lead times, you get stuck.<\/p>\n

Month 1 to 3<\/span>Decide<\/strong>Analysis, scenarios and a new car policy.<\/span><\/div>\n
Month 3 to 6<\/span>Test<\/strong>Charging infrastructure at the office and a pilot with five employees.<\/span><\/div>\n
Month 6 to 12<\/span>Roll out<\/strong>Scaling up, full rollout and evaluation.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The roadmap, step by step<\/h2>\n

  1. Month 1 to 2: analysis and vision<\/strong>Map the current fleet, commuting per employee and charging needs at the office versus at home. Work out three scenarios (fast, phased, cautious) with the TCO over 4 years. Management decides at the end of month 2.<\/li>\n
  2. Month 2 to 3: adapt the car policy<\/strong>Electric only for new leases? Hybrid as a transition? Which models, what budget? Social consultation and signing of the new car policy at the end of month 3.<\/li>\n
  3. Month 3 to 4: design office charging infrastructure<\/strong>Site visit with the installer, capacity analysis with the grid operator and a permit application where needed. For sites with more than 8 charging points, allow several months for a heavier grid connection.<\/li>\n
  4. Month 4 to 6: pilot with the first five employees<\/strong>The first five EV drivers get their car, their home charger and access to the charge point management platform. Goal: test every administrative process, from split billing to charging cards and reimbursement. Fixing mistakes is cheaper here than in month 10.<\/li>\n
  5. Month 6 to 9: scaling up<\/strong>Every month, 5 to 10 electric cars are added. A home installation takes 3 to 8 weeks per unit, so plan through a shared schedule with the installer. For every new car: 30 minutes of explanation about the charging card, app and split billing.<\/li>\n
  6. Month 9 to 11: full rollout<\/strong>The remaining employees get their electric car. The company car park is fully operational. First-line support moves from fleet to the charge point management platform.<\/li>\n
  7. Month 12: evaluation and adjustment<\/strong>Evaluate the average charging cost per kWh, the share of home versus public charging, employee satisfaction and intervention lead times. Adjust the policy based on real data, which you now actually have.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
