The market price of a charger installation changes constantly. Anyone comparing quotes therefore lacks a frame of reference.
Fluctuating cable prices, varying capacity tariffs from grid operators, new models and regional grants that start or stop. That is why we publish a quarterly barometer with the real, average project costs as we invoiced them ourselves over the past three months.
The Q2 2026 barometer at a glance
The figures are based on completed Certipower projects in the second quarter of 2026. They are indicative, not a quote: every situation depends on the distance to the fuse box, meter type, wall penetrations and grid connection capacity.
Residential: single-family home, 1 charging point
For a standard installation of an 11 kW home charger on the facade or in the garage, with cable up to 15 metres and no meter upgrade, our Q2 average is around €1,850 including VAT, materials and installation together. Compared with 2025, that is a slight drop of about 4%, mainly due to falling prices of mid-range smart chargers.
The spread remains large. A simple installation can stay below €1,500, while homes that need a fuse box upgrade or a long cable route quickly exceed €2,500.
SME or company car park: 2 to 6 charging points
For a typical SME installation with 2 to 6 AC charging points of 11 or 22 kW, including load balancing and back-office configuration, the average project cost in Q2 is €2,100 to €2,800 per charging point. The more charging points on one cable route, the lower the cost per point. That effect becomes noticeable from 4 charging points.
The biggest price driver is not the charger itself, but the cable routing and any modification of the main distribution board. In older business premises, that is often more than half the project budget.
Co-ownership: 4 to 20 charging points
Co-ownership projects are the hardest to benchmark, because no two buildings are identical. For a common scenario, collective main cabling with individual billing and 8 to 12 charging points, the average Q2 price is €2,400 to €3,200 per charging point. That includes laying the main cabling, individual metering and the administrative setup. The higher cost versus an SME is entirely due to the shared infrastructure and the metering and billing layer.
50 kW DC fast charger
A 50 kW DC fast charger on a business site or at a retailer comes in Q2 at an average project cost of €32,000 to €45,000, depending heavily on the grid connection. In a quarter of our cases, a grid upgrade is needed, and that alone can cost €10,000 to €25,000, separate from the charger. When a fast charger makes sense: a fast charger on your business site.
What drives the price most today?
Grid connection
In about 1 in 5 projects in Q2, an upgrade or new connection was needed.
Cable routing
Every extra metre between distribution board and charging point counts. In residential projects, the routing explains 30 to 50% of the price difference between quotes.
Grants and VAT regime
Regional grants and VAT recovery can lower the net amount by 20 to 40%. An overview is in regional charging grants in 2026 compared.
Choice of model
The difference between an entry-level model and a smart charger with dynamic load balancing and split billing is €300 to €700 at material level.
